1. What Is RAMMS?

RAMMS — the Reed Adaptive Marketing Management System — is a proprietary seven-phase cyclical marketing framework developed and owned exclusively by The Northern School of Marketing Ltd. Created by Danny Reed, Founder of the Northern School of Marketing, RAMMS bridges the persistent gap between academic marketing theory and real-world marketing practice. It is the operating system that underpins every course, programme, and qualification delivered by The Northern School of Marketing.

The seven phases of RAMMS are: 01 Foundation, 02 Strategy, 03 Activity, 04 Operational Measurement, 05 Audience Response, 06 Business Value, and 07 Organisational Learning. Together they form a continuous, self-improving loop in which Organisational Learning feeds directly back into the Foundation phase — making RAMMS a living system, not a static model.

The framework — including its name, full title, acronym, seven-phase structure, the RAMMS loop, visual representations, supporting methodology, and all derivative teaching materials — is protected under UK copyright, trademark, and intellectual property law.

2. Ownership

The RAMMS framework — the Reed Adaptive Marketing Management System — in its entirety, is the sole intellectual property of The Northern School of Marketing Ltd (Company Number: 16519903), created by Danny Reed. This includes:

  • The RAMMS name, full title (Reed Adaptive Marketing Management System), acronym, and all associated branding
  • The seven-phase cyclical framework structure: Foundation, Strategy, Activity, Operational Measurement, Audience Response, Business Value, and Organisational Learning
  • The RAMMS loop concept and all visual diagrams, models, and representations of the framework
  • All course content, lesson materials, assessments, and resources built on the RAMMS methodology
  • The RAMMS Certified Marketer qualification and associated assessment criteria
  • Any derivative works, adaptations, or extensions of the framework created by The Northern School of Marketing

No individual, organisation, or institution may claim ownership of, or rights to, the RAMMS Framework or any part thereof without express written authorisation from The Northern School of Marketing Ltd.

3. Permitted Use — Students & Learners

  • Applying the RAMMS methodology to their own professional marketing work, campaigns, and strategy development
  • Referencing RAMMS in their own portfolio, CV, or professional profiles — provided clear attribution to The Northern School of Marketing is included
  • Discussing and sharing RAMMS concepts in professional or academic contexts, provided the source is credited
  • Using RAMMS-based templates and worksheets provided within the course for personal professional development

This personal licence is granted for the duration of active membership and does not extend to commercial, educational, or institutional use without a separate written agreement.

4. Attribution Requirements

7. RAMMS Certified — Qualification Integrity

The RAMMS Certified Marketer qualification is issued exclusively by The Northern School of Marketing Ltd upon successful completion of the RAMMS Certified Marketer programme — a 12-week cohort-based programme in which participants apply all seven phases of the framework to a real business challenge. It is an independent professional qualification and is not a regulated academic award.

The following rules apply to the RAMMS Certified qualification:

  • Only individuals who have completed the full RAMMS Certified Marketer programme and passed all assessments may use the designation "RAMMS Certified Marketer" in a professional context
  • Certificates may not be altered, reproduced, or falsified in any way
  • The Northern School of Marketing reserves the right to revoke certification in cases of misconduct, misrepresentation, or breach of this licence policy
  • No third party may issue, endorse, or validate RAMMS Certified Marketer status on behalf of The Northern School of Marketing

  • Revocation of any certificates or qualifications issued
  • A formal cease and desist notice
  • Legal action under UK copyright, trademark, and intellectual property law
  • Claims for damages, including loss of revenue and reputational harm

The Northern School of Marketing takes the protection of the RAMMS Framework seriously and will pursue all available legal remedies where necessary.
